My name is Jessica, and I have been teaching in special education for over 8 years. I have mostly taught in special schools in Australia, however I also enjoyed two wonderful years teaching in special needs settings in London from 2017-2018. I have my Bachelor of Special Education and my Masters of Inclusive Education with a Major in Positive Behaviour Support.
At the moment I am taking a break from full-time teaching to raise my beautiful baby boy, Charles. Everyday is a new adventure with him and I am loving watching him learn and explore the world. My time off with him however, has made me realise just how passionate I am about my job as a special needs teacher. This has given me the drive to start creating the teaching resources I have wanted and needed for my students over the years, but never had the time to make.
I aim to create and share high quality resources to help teach teenage students with disabilities, who are learning at a K-2 level. These students are supposed to be taught emergent literacy and numeracy skills yet throughout my teaching career I have always struggled to find engaging and age-appropriate resources for these students. I am hoping that over time I can create and find an amazing collection of resources to fill this need.
Please come along with me on my journey! Or better yet, help me by reaching out to me if you have or know of resources that you believe other teachers of teenage students with disabilities could benefit from.
Happy teaching!
Jess
